Late Appeal: An appeal that is not timely received.  An appeal that is received by the Salt Lake County Auditor's Office after September 15, 2009.   If you fail to file an appeal timely, your only alternative would be to petition the Board to accept a late appeal.  A late filed appeal will only be accepted based on a very narrow set of criteria, which is describe in the administrative rules section of Utah's Tax Code.

 

Leased Fee Estate:  This is an ownership interest that is held by a landlord when the right to use and occupy a property is conveyed to another person.  This ownership interest is specified by contract terms within a lease agreement.  Typically the landlord is compensated for giving up some of his/her ownership rights by receiving rent.  This rental payment is commonly referred to as "contract" rent.

 

Lien Date: January 1 of the tax year in question.  Property is valued by its condition, use, and ownership as of this date.
